| Boilerworks History
On June 20, 1877, Black Wednesday, a fire began in Saint John. The north-west
wind of that day carried the fire from the boardwalk to McLaughlin’s Boiler Works
and then continued south and destroyed what is known as the downtown
peninsula. This catastrophe is now known as the Great Fire of Saint John. Our
restaurant’s name pays homage to the original McLaughlin’s Boiler Works, a
manufacturing company.
